until i learn to ask for nothing October 16, 2009

teenage girls
are no longer in my age group
and short skirts are only
a means to an end

cigarette smoke in my face
is a staple
along with cheap diners
and never-to-be-paid debts

dirty comments
on facebook status updates
fill the need
of an empty touch

and what i ask for
always becomes too much
until i learn
to ask for nothing
